Quay North Urban Development has over 40 years’ experience in property development, programming, consulting, and strategic business acquisition. The following highlights a few unique projects in our recent history.
VICTORIA PUBLIC MARKET
Quay North Urban Development was engaged by the owners of Victoria Public Market to aid in turning around this failing market property. Quay North conducted detailed negotiations with all existing tenants, carried out extensive leasing activities to fill vacancies and replace some tenants. Quay North employed a team to provide administrative and marketing services, to promote the property and activate the site with programming.
LADNER MARKET CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
Contracted by the Corporation of Delta, Quay North Urban Development conducted a viability study for development of a retail market on civic owned land, which included adaptive re-use of existing heritage building, substantial environmental sustainability studies, and detailed architectural, programing and merchandising plans. Delta adopted the recommendations by Quay North and incorporated into their OCP the developer incentive plan provided by Quay North.
DUNDEE FOOTBALL CLUB & DENS PARK STADIUM
Quay North purchased the football club and stadium in Dundee, Scotland, and carried out extensive renovations including, including revitalizing the concession area. Quay North implemented new accounting, ticketing and cash systems to ensure quality service. In later years a subsequent renovation of the property included addition of a greyhound race track within the stadium, a new restaurant, lounge, and additional concessions with betting booths.
Quay North designed, built and operated a 6,500 seat multipurpose facility in Washington, USA. The Coliseum was built as the home to the Tri-City Americans, of the Western Hockey League franchise. The property also became the home of the Tri-City Chinook, a Continental Basketball Association franchise. The Coliseum was the host of various events large scale events and concerts by big name touring acts and sporting events.
Quay North has undertaken the design, construction and operation of long-term pop-up restaurants. For up to six months, and generating up to $2,000,000, this concept can work with larger festivals or expositions, such as Expo ’92 in Seville, Spain, or stand-alone opportunities.
AM 1040 RADIO
After purchasing this failing radio station, Quay North Urban Development implemented and managed the relocation of the station to a high profile downtown location. Quay North also implemented format change of the station, and managed ongoing operations of this local radio station, until selling it years later.
CCS PROPERTIES, MEXICO
Quay North’s Mexico division, operating under CCS Properties, included the purchase and revitalization of two nightclubs, and one restaurant in Queretaro, near Mexico City. Quay North oversaw the design, construction, management and operations of these clubs as they became premier destinations in the region. Quay North’s Mexico division continued to grow with the purchase and redevelopment of an office building, as well as two acres of land for the development of 43 town homes. At the peak we employed over 100 staff in our Mexican office.
